LIC Rig
The LIC Rig is a great choice for those operating in one of the many Low Intensity Conflict (LIC) areas around the world. Escalating tensions domestically call for you to up your capabilities. The LIC Rig provides a compact and lightweight AR mag carrier that you can easily pack in a briefcase, backpack, or under your seat until needed. Donning this shoulder rig only takes seconds. The modular design allows you to be flexible in an ever changing environment. Additional panels are available for pistol mags, combination AR/pistol, and utility pocket for things like pocket med kits. You can also replace one side with a pistol holster from our Shoulder Holster parts. The X-Harness shoulder strap design provides good weight distribution as well as a carry adjustment. Adjustments to the mil-spec one inch webbing are easy to make. Swapping panels out only takes a minute. The original concept of the LIC Rig came from a customer who wanted something like what was used in the 1995 movie Heat. The bank robbery scene featured a vest that held six AR mags under a suit coat. While this works well if you are wearing a three piece suit it is not low profile in a lot of other scenarios. This shoulder harness combines the capacity of the original design with a solution that is easier to conceal. A note on sizing: Model is 6’2″ (187cm) and wears a Large/42L. Concealing 30rd AR magazines on small frame persons or improperly fitted rig can lead to printing . Take a few minutes and hold a mag on your side and check to see if this will be a good fit for you before ordering. Returns are subject to restocking fees$100.00
Glock Knife Sheath v1
The Glock Field Knife is an excellent knife. There are many thousands in use around the world for good reason. The biggest complaint that most users have is the included sheath. It lacks various mounting options, is difficult to take out, and for some make too much noise. The Ares Tactical Glock Knife Sheath for the Glock M78 and M81 Field Knife solves these problems. We built a two piece sheath, sometimes called a pancake because of the layers looking like a stack of flapjacks. This design allow for many different mounting options. If you are wanting a molle clip, closed belt loop, IWB soft loop, or Ulticlip we have it for you. Attachment options are selected in the OPTIONS section below. The second most complained about problem with the factory knife sheath is the knife is too difficult to take out. This is especially true if you are wearing gloves. Knife retention is the most difficult issue to solve for a sheath. Too loose and you know that knife will probably be lost in the woods somewhere. To tight like the factory and you struggle to release it when you need it most. What the Ares Tactical Glock Knife Sheath has done is designed a sheath that locks in place but can easily be removed when you grip the handle and press the back locking tab. For those only wanting a friction fit that is an option. Another benefit of our design is the opening gives you more than a 50% increase in the opening at the top. This will make it easier to put you knife away. Like I say when holstering a pistol, it it still a good idea to look the knife into the sheath. No sense is stabbing your gear or self to save a second or two on securing the blade. Molding the Kydex to the knife provides a tighter fit to the blade. This reduces rattle or slap inside the sheath from the knife banging into the sheath. This also means anything hitting the outside of the sheath will be quieter too. These are molded for RIGHT HAND use. If you want a left hand version choose that in the options section. There are currently three width sizing on the Glock Knife Sheath V1. This helps you fine tune the sheath to your needs. The standard width is the narrowest width. Spacing is soley based on the width of the knife blade. Next wider option is the Standard Molle width. This is for attaching to the standard webbing stitched every 1.5″ wide. This gives you about 1.4″ room between the stitches. When you have something using laser cut molle slots the opening is about 1.1″ but still 1.5″ to the next opening. So, your wiggle room using standard 1″ wide straps is minimized. This means the Standard Molle Width snuggly fits in two MOLLE columns. The Laser Cut MOLLE take three vertical columns. Updated Option Feb 2024: We are now offering a steel pommel modification to Glock knives at time of purchase. This cold-blued steel pommel is great for crushing things with the butt of your knife or hammering in nails or tent stakes. It also gives you easier access to the storage area inside the handle. The added weight also shifts the balance from blade forward to the handle. This is change in balance is preferred by many knife fighters as it make changes in direction quicker. Here’s why you may want a knife with the balance point closer to the butt: Control and Precision When the weight is biased toward the handle, the knife feels more anchored in your grip. This gives you better control over the blade’s movement, especially for tasks requiring finesse, like slicing, carving, or detailed cutting. The lighter blade tip responds quickly to wrist movements, reducing fatigue and improving accuracy. For a field knife like the Glock, this can be handy for skinning game, preparing food, or crafting tools where precision beats raw power. Reduced Fatigue A handle-heavy knife shifts the center of gravity closer to your hand, making it less taxing to hold and maneuver over time. If the balance were blade-heavy, your wrist would have to work harder to keep the tip from dropping, especially during prolonged use. For a military or survival context, where you might be using the knife for hours—say, building a shelter or processing wood—this can make a big difference in conserving energy. Safety With the weight in the handle, the blade is less likely to “lead” or pull away from you unexpectedly. This can be a safety perk, particularly in high-stress situations or when working in awkward positions (e.g., cutting upward or in tight spaces). It minimizes the chance of the knife slipping out of control, which is critical for a tool designed for rugged, unpredictable environments like the Glock knife’s intended use. Thrusting and Stabbing A handle-heavy design can enhance thrusting or stabbing motions, common in combat or self-defense scenarios. The weight near the hand lets you drive the blade forward with more force and stability, as the momentum starts from your grip rather than the blade pulling itself along. Since the Glock knife doubles as a bayonet (mountable on a Steyr AUG), this balance aligns with its potential as a weapon, where penetration power matters more than chopping efficiency. Our version of the sheath has a bottom and side drain hole. This allows plenty of drainage for when it gets wet. As with any knife you should dry and oil it as soon as possible if it gets wet. The standard sheath is about 3″ wide. There is a wider version that is about 3.8″ wide that allows both columns of eyelets to align with three width molle section.$40.00
Thigh Holster
Whether you call it a Thigh Holster, Leg Holster, or Drop Leg Holster they all free up belt space and provide extra clearance around body armor to access your pistol. It is also easier to draw from your support hand. The Ares Tactical Thigh Holster is highly versatile. It is adjustable for ride height, including being able to remove the top strap. Both let straps feature rubberized strips that help prevent twisting or unwanted movement. Dual tension screw allow you to adjust the force needed to draw. All holsters come mounted directly to the thigh platform. We do offer a variety quick-release interchangeable hardware that allow your to swap holster quickly or the move your holster from one platform to another easily. Some of the more popular are the Blade-Tech TMMS, Safariland QLS, and G-Code RTI. Essentially they all serve the same function but are not interoperable between brands. One side mounts to the holster (Insert/fork/hanger) and the other mounts to platform (thigh panel/ belt slide, molle adapter) and this is usually called the plate. Is one any better than another? That’s a personal preference as they all have their own following. TMMS puts it off the body the least, RTI is the easiest to swap out. QLS is the most ubiquitous. Additional holsters can be ordered by choosing our Molle Holster and Molle Weaponlight Holster. We try to provide the highest level of flexibility and cost savings. Just let us know at the time of order so we can pre-drill the correct hole spacing at no extra charge. As with all our Kydex Holsters, the Thigh Holster is Made in the USA by veterans using parts and materials made in the US. Update 12 January 2021: We have brought in some Blade-Tech thigh panels to offer more colors and hopefully have a more consistent supply on hand. These feature a semi-rigid polymer platform with dual leg adjustments and an adjustable drop hanger with a quick release side buckle. Update 1 February 2018: Our supplier has discontinued the Cordura thigh panels in a style we use. Very limited stock or old stock is available. Thigh panel colors we have on hand are available in the drop down menu. Currently only Coyote Brown (code 498) Cordura is in stock.$130.00
Hybrid Holster
Hybrid holsters have been very popular over the last decade. Providing the conforming nature of leather on the backside and the rugged form fitted Kydex on the outside blends the two spectrum’s of holster design. This is the Ares Tactical take featuring sturdy leather back and .080 Kydex. The Kydex Holster design allows you to have multiple shells and one leather backer. The opening is slightly flared to make holstering easier. The full wrap muzzle is standard. This protects the front sight from damage or become caught up on your clothes. As an added benefit it keeps your clothes clean from powder and oil from the slide and muzzle. Also, the wrapped muzzle reduces sharp edges and wear that can tear holes in your pants. Notice the rounded and treated edges of the leather. We take the extra time to do this because it makes carrying more comfortable and it looks good too. IWB Soft loops are a great option for those wanting something more secure that the traditional metal clips. The pull-the-dot snaps allow easy on and off. You can also choose tuckable injection molded belt clips. Cant angle can be fine tuned via front and back adjustment holes. Multiple shells are available for only $20. This allows you to use the same backer and reduce costs. Contact us for ordering. Don’t forget to check out our Ready to Ship page. This is where we list some overstock items (QS Quick Ship) as well as prototypes, blemished, and other non standard items (RS Ready Ship).$500.00
Bodyguard IWB Holster
The Bodyguard IWB Holster grew out of a need for a comfortable IWB (Inside the Waistband) holster that was highly concealable, reliable, and easy put on or take off. This Kydex holster is ambidextrous and can be configured for right and left hand carry. Wrap around muzzle design protects the muzzle, keeps your clothes cleaner, and is far more comfortable than exposed versions. The tuckable J-hook allows for full concealment with minimal hook showing. An optional pull-the-dot soft loop kit is available for $10. Also consider the new UltiClip. This is a great solution for those men and women who do not wear belts or want an even more concealed carry Kydex holster The body of the holster is constructed of .080 Kydex. This offers excellent resistance to environmental conditions as well as body sweat. Also normal atmospheric hot, cold, wet or dry will not harm your holster. Other thicknesses and colors are available as a custom order. Although we feel .080 offers the best properties. The .060 thickness will do the job but feels flimsy to most people and sometimes is a little more difficult to holster. The extra stiffness over the .060 is something IDPA competitors will appreciate. The J-hook made of very strong .125 Kydex. This style is also called an appendix carry holster. The minimal width of the wrap around construction lends itself to placing almost anywhere on the belt. The appendix carry refers to placing the holster forward of the hip bone or the 2 o’clock position for a right-handed shooter. It is equally well suited 3, 4, or 5 o’clock carry depending on your preference. This is a IWB Kydex Holster you can wear all day and love the comfort and security it offers. As with any screw hardware; it is recommended that after final set up is made that you use threadlocker on the screws to prevent accidental loosening. This is available as a option if you do not have any already.$60.00
