SideKick Holster
Ares Tactical has made combination pistol and magazine IWB holsters for years by special order. There’s a pretty consistent pattern that several Kydex holster makers use. Our wasn’t that different in the basic design. We applied our critical eye on using the best materials and finishing, but essentially they looked and worked the same. The new SideKick holster is a first in its design. It takes up less belt room than the traditional style making it far more versatile in where you place it. Most pistol and mag holsters are limited to carrying in the front or AIWB (appendix Inside-the-belt). The Ares Tactical SideKick is small enough that some users will be able to place it anywhere including the strong side 3 o’clock position. The mag slot is built to handle full size magazines regardless of pistol size. Compact and subcompact magazines will fit deeper in the slot. User adjustable tension screws for both the pistol and magazine. This allows you to custom tune the draw effort needed for the pistol and magazine individually. Want even more versatility? Will the SideKick IWB holster work without a magazine? Yes, the SideKick is designed in a way that allows it to be used with or without a magazine placed in the slot. 2. Will this work with my Trijicon RMR (Burris Fast Fire, JP JPoint, etc.)? Generally, no. To keep the profile small we tuck the magazine slot close to the pistol. Some combinations of mini dot optics, mount, and compact magazines may work. 3. I see you make other holsters for my XDs 3.3 but not in the SideKick model. Why? The SideKick is made for many double stack pistols. Some double stack pistols and most single stack pistols do not work well with the intent of this design. 4. Is there an option for two or three magazines? No. Adding a second magazine substantially increases the relative size and severely restricts the versatility of the design. We recommend if you want to carry more magazine to get the Ares Tactical IWB Single Mag Carrier. 5. What are the optional deep seat clips? Thigh Holster
Whether you call it a Thigh Holster, Leg Holster, or Drop Leg Holster they all free up belt space and provide extra clearance around body armor to access your pistol. It is also easier to draw from your support hand. The Ares Tactical Thigh Holster is highly versatile. It is adjustable for ride height, including being able to remove the top strap. Both let straps feature rubberized strips that help prevent twisting or unwanted movement. Dual tension screw allow you to adjust the force needed to draw. All holsters come mounted directly to the thigh platform. We do offer a variety quick-release interchangeable hardware that allow your to swap holster quickly or the move your holster from one platform to another easily. Some of the more popular are the Blade-Tech TMMS, Safariland QLS, and G-Code RTI. Essentially they all serve the same function but are not interoperable between brands. One side mounts to the holster (Insert/fork/hanger) and the other mounts to platform (thigh panel/ belt slide, molle adapter) and this is usually called the plate. Is one any better than another? That’s a personal preference as they all have their own following. TMMS puts it off the body the least, RTI is the easiest to swap out. QLS is the most ubiquitous. Update 12 January 2021: We have brought in some Blade-Tech thigh panels to offer more colors and hopefully have a more consistent supply on hand. These feature a semi-rigid polymer platform with dual leg adjustments and an adjustable drop hanger with a quick release side buckle. Update 1 February 2018: Our supplier has discontinued the Cordura thigh panels in a style we use. Very limited stock or old stock is available. Competition Holster
Competition Holster for IDPA and USPSA Go to our new Competition Holster page. If you order on this page and not the new one linked above you will only get a Right Hand, Low Sweat Shield, and less options. The Competition Holster is perfect for IDPA and USPSA action shooting matches, general range use, or everyday carry. The low cut front allows the pistol to clear the holster faster and get on target sooner. If you measure time by the hundreths of a second this is the holster you want on your side. Dual retention screws lets you fine tune the draw effort. You can make this as secure as you want. Adjustment are made with a common Phillips screwdriver meeting IDPA requirements. A fully enclosed trigger guard meets all competitive sports rules and recommendations of most professional trainers. The low cut front is a popular feature. It allows you to clear the holster faster and get your muzzle pointed downrange sooner. This is also compatible with Trijicon RMR, Burris Fast Fire, and JP Rifles JPoint style slide mounted micro red dot sights. Our design meets the rules criteria for both IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) and USPSA (including Production Division) as well as many other shooting competitions. If you are not an IDPA or IPSC member you should look into them. Both are very welcoming to new shooters and great way to improve your skills. Multiple carry heights are possible with the Tek-Loc belt adapter. It fits belts up to 2.25 inches. A standard 1.75” belt allows six carry height adjustments that can be locked in. You can add a FBI 15 degree forward cant or a muzzle forward cant in it’s base position. A flared opening is added for safety and ease. This allows the shooter to holster the pistol easily without the need to point the muzzle at themselves to get it started into the holster. Muzzling yourself in IDPA, USPSA, or in general is forbidden. Order the single color or two-tone model. The single color uses only the Base Color Option. If you order Black or Gunmetal Grey you will be a heavier .93 Kydex. When ordering the dual color model select the inside Base Color then the outside shell wrap color. You will also need to choose an edge reveal. As a long time IDPA shooter (A054xx) and life member of USPSA (L26xx) we have heard that beep many times. Bodyguard IWB Holster
The Bodyguard IWB Holster grew out of a need for a comfortable IWB (Inside the Waistband) holster that was highly concealable, reliable, and easy put on or take off. This Kydex holster is ambidextrous and can be configured for right and left hand carry. Wrap around muzzle design protects the muzzle, keeps your clothes cleaner, and is far more comfortable than exposed versions. The tuckable J-hook allows for full concealment with minimal hook showing. An optional pull-the-dot soft loop kit is available for $10. Also consider the new UltiClip. This is a great solution for those men and women who do not wear belts or want an even more concealed carry Kydex holster The body of the holster is constructed of .080 Kydex. This offers excellent resistance to environmental conditions as well as body sweat. Also normal atmospheric hot, cold, wet or dry will not harm your holster. Other thicknesses and colors are available as a custom order. Although we feel .080 offers the best properties. The .060 thickness will do the job but feels flimsy to most people and sometimes is a little more difficult to holster. The extra stiffness over the .060 is something IDPA competitors will appreciate. The J-hook made of very strong .125 Kydex. This style is also called an appendix carry holster. The minimal width of the wrap around construction lends itself to placing almost anywhere on the belt. The appendix carry refers to placing the holster forward of the hip bone or the 2 o’clock position for a right-handed shooter. It is equally well suited 3, 4, or 5 o’clock carry depending on your preference. This is a IWB Kydex Holster you can wear all day and love the comfort and security it offers. As with any screw hardware; it is recommended that after final set up is made that you use threadlocker on the screws to prevent accidental loosening. Weaponlight Holster
Depending on the figures you look at, between 60-85% of shootings occur in low light. When time is of the essence, having weapon light already mounted to your handgun could be the edge you need. Modeled similarly to The Standard Holster, the Weapon light holster can be configured for belt carry or inside-the-waistband (IWB). Pictured is a Sig Sauer P226 9mm with a Streamlight TLR-1 weapon light in OD Green. The base model comes in black with 1.75″ belt loops. Other color and attachment methods are available. The body of the holster is constructed of .080 Kydex or, for some finishes, Holstex. Both offer excellent resistance to environmental conditions. Hot, cold, wet or dry will not harm your holster. Other thicknesses are available as a custom order. Although we feel .080 offers the best properties. The .060 thickness will do the job but feels flimsy to most people. Standard belt loops are made of very rigid .125 Kydex. Optional J-Hook or soft belt loops extends the versatility of this holster to be carried inside the waistband (IWB). Like the Standard Holster, the Weaponlight Holster has belt loop positions that allow four carry heights and different angles. The highest position of the belt loops allows the pistol to sit lowest on your belt. This will roughly place the trigger guard at the belt level. The belt loops can be dropped down to the next set of eyelets making for a slightly higher ride. Flipping the belt loops upside down with further raise the ride of the holster. Inverting the belt loops for a very high ride, as with any holster, should only be done with a stiff belt.
